Does the library have a room where I can record a presentation?

Answer

The Library has a "One Button" recording studio on the 2nd floor, Room 251. The room has the necessary technology already installed to make recording a video fairly simple.

Installed equipment:

  • Two flat screen monitors: One displays a background image or slides for your presentation by connecting to your laptop using AirTame. The other allows the user to view what's being recorded as it's recording.
  •  Two cameras: The main camera records the presenter and the flat screen behind them. The 2nd camera is mounted on the opposite wall, and is used only if the rest of the room needs to be captured. Cameras are mounted to the wall and are controlled by a remote.
  • A wall-mounted control panel and USB port to control recording onto a USB drive.
  • A whiteboard is mounted on a 3rd wall.

Items to bring:

  • The camera remote (This is checked out from the circulation desk on the 1st floor)
  • A laptop (Users can use their personal laptop if it has a USB port, or can check out a laptop from the circulation desk on the 1st floor)
  • A USB drive is needed to capture the recording then transfer it to a computer. (Users should provide their own USB drive, but the circulation desk sometimes has extras that can be borrowed.)

Other considerations:

  • A complete and detailed set of directions for using the recording studio are kept in the room, and the staff at the library circulation desk can also assist with setting up the room or answering any questions that come up.
  • Any user needing the recording studio should reserve it at least a day ahead or up to 2 weeks ahead of time using our online room reservations system. The 2nd floor rooms get a lot of use so it's best to plan ahead.
  • Ask at the circulation desk on the 1st floor if you have any questions about the recording studio, or call us at 319-398-5696.
